Human activities are capable of changing the normal functioning of earth-system processes in ways that amplify risks to societies worldwide, marine plastic pollution as a planetary boundary threat and emerging Anthropocene risk. The exponential increase in the use of plastic in modern society and the inadequate management of the resulting waste have led to its accumulation in the marine environment.
Planetary Crisis – The global beauty industry produces over 142 BILLION UNITS of packaging every year. Every piece of plastic ever made still exists.
There is no such thing as “good plastic” as reclaimed plastic, recycled plastic, recyclable plastic and every other type of plastic can still end up in the sea or landfill.
We Need to Change – The Beauty industry and its contribution to this MUST make a change and reconsider their use of plastic, whether it be virgin, recycled or reclaimed from the sea because the problem is that it ends up back in the sea or landfill which makes the type of plastic irrelevant. There is no such thing as “good plastic”.
